Timeless; not nostalgic.
I was briefed to bring more modernism to the NX 500, the prior NX 300 being too retro-modern. Part of the design’s throwback in time is mainly due to the typical sandwich casing, embodied by most cameras from the single-lens reflex era. The nostalgia that exudes from an period long gone, no longer entwined with technology, carries most of the issue.
I felt like revisiting this particular decision (not shown on production model), while re exploring some key features such as the iconic “ racetrack” silhouette, in accordance with the SAMSUNG DNA. The whole design process was based on chasing simplicity.
